Hal Pilkington is a London based director of photography. He has shot a range of commercial work for clients such as Amazon Prime Video, Umbro and Sure.

While reading philosophy at university, he met a group of filmmakers and together founded the production company Campdale Motion, for which he has lensed narrative short films, including the 16mm sci-fi drama ‘A Flight of Fancy’ currently on the festival circuit.

Hal’s approach to storytelling is heavily influenced by his background in the lighting department working on long-form productions for Netflix and the BBC.

A few of his favourite filmmakers: Michaelangelo Antonnioni, Gaspar Noe, Ming-liang Tsai,  Andrei Tarkovsky, Roy Andersson, Ozu Yasujiro and Bi Gan.
